Madame Mae I
G.O.T. s Whip Wielding Burlesque Mistress
Madame Mae I is GOT Cabaret’s itty bitty blonde mistress with a look that is pure sugar & spice but a personality reminiscent of an atomic bomb strapped into 5 inch stiletto heels. When this burly-q sexpot walks into a room, you can’t help but take notice.
Madame Mae I grew up enthralled with the glamour and elegance of the ‘good old days’. Even as a precocious young girl, Mae dreamed of performing on stage coated in sequins and feathers, tantalizing the audience with her feminine charms, just like her childhood idols, Marilyn Monroe and Gypsy Rose Lee. Mae worked diligently to achieve this dream with over 16 years of professional training in ballet, jazz, tap, belly dance, musical theatre, and drama. She had the honour of performing with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and various local theatre companies as a youngster.
As she grew into her curves, she got sick of being told what to do and the confining leotards and tights. She quickly embraced wholeheartedly ever single inch of what she had to offer – off came the tutu and on went the garter belt! Madame Mae I now shimmies and shakes to the beat of her own drum, combining her years of dance and theatrical training, fearless personality, and astounding creative energy to create acts that enchant and enthrall.
At the tender but not-so innocent age of nineteen, Mae founded Girls On Top with the hopes of combining her passion for social activism and her life-long love affair with burlesque and glamour. She has since carefully hand picked the bevy of beauties that is now Girls On Top, recruiting only those with enough passion, discipline and talents to form her vision.
Her journey into burlesque has led Madame Mae I to grace the stages of the Vancouver Burlesque Festival, Vancouver Pride Festival, Kitty Nights, Dr. Sketchy’s, and various other burlesque productions and local events. Mae is proud to not only be a part of GOT Cabaret Society, but also the board of directors for the 2010 Vancouver International Burlesque Festival.
